Rasanara Parbin selected for Women`s World Cup

Odisha off-spinner Rasanara Parbin has been selected to represent India in the ICC Women`s World Cup , scheduled to be held in Mumbai from January 31 to February 17. According to Odisha Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera, Bolangir girl Parbin has been included in the 15-member Indian team.

Rasanara, 20, has so far has played three T20 internationals after making her debut in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka earlier this year. She has proved herself consistent, bagging two wickets in each of the three matches, including one in Women’s T20 Asia Cup in China.

The highest wicket-taker in the domestic T-20 tournament of the country with 20 scalps this seasons, Parbin’s specialty as a spin bowler is her natural loop, which often deceives the batsman in the air. Second daughter of a middle-class Muslim family, she is also known as a good fielder in the gully area. Rasanara`s coach Arun Naik described her selection as the result of hard work and consistency.
